Artefact 1: Early waverly model for artifact one

Artefact one of my research project tests out the principles of camera angles in cinematography on a virtual environment. I decided to use the Waverly building as it is the building I am in every day and is easy to reference from. It is also a very old building with a lot of history and it is coming up to its 150th year. I have found it hard to model while completing my client project but now I have got it under way it is coming along fairly well. I am hoping to finish the model in the next few days so I can test out different camera angles and start building up my first artefact.

Cel shade texture test

As my client project is aimed more towards a younger audience it seemed texturing my model as photorealistic would not be necessary. I experimented using a cel shading technique using the paint and ink textures in 3dsmax. I rendered out 2 shots of the same camera angle using scanline and mental ray. Mental ray shown to have a lot smoother lines and a more finished look to it.

Early camera test

A quick camera test of the panning shot I plan to use at the end of my animation. Only a very early version of my model as that is proving to be more complicated than I thought. By testing the camera out I can get a better idea if the size of the model is correct.
